CCFMC Family Resource Center Partnering with Senator Hugh Farley to host Community and Family Wellness Event

The Family Room, Catholic Charities Family Resource and Support Center is honored to announce it's partnership with Senator Hugh Farley's District Office to host a FREE Community and Family Wellness Day on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Riverfront Center in Amsterdam.

FRC Director Amy Courtoies states that "after many year's hosting seperate events, the more recent being postponed due to inclement weather, our staff have teamed up to provide a larger scale event that will reach out to our community members from 0-100."

The event which will take place on the lower level of the Riverfront Center will include opportunities for community members to access information from over 60 local agencies and programs including Fulmont Community Action Agency, St. Mary's Hospital, Tri-County Mediation, Legal Aid, the Public Health Departments and Offices for the Aging from both Fulton and Montgomery Counties.  Opportunities for health related screenings, low-cost/no-cost insurance and lead testing will be available throughout the day.  Courtoies adds "we are grateful to the continued support of our community partners who have continued to partner with us each year to host the event.  Through the support of Valley Rural Housing Corp. Inc, we are able to provide free lead screenings to children and CDPHP has once again provided signifigant support to assist us in providing families and children with a safe, healthy and fun-filled event."  In addition to the agencies participating in the event the staff of Target Distribution center will be on hand to assist in hosting a Diaper Derby for non-walking children under 18 months and a hula hoop contest for those children ages 4-10, Doodles the Clown will be providing caricatures throughout the day and the Fidelisaurus will make appearances throughout the day.  Reality Check, a continued supporter of the Family Resource Center will be hosting a free movie screening for children and Twist N' Flip Gymnastics Studio, under the direction of Ron Barnes will be providing demonstrations throughout the event.

For more information on the event please contact Amy Courtoies, FRC Director at 842-4202 ext. 3132
