FEMA funds are awarded to Catholic Charities twice a year. The funds may be used for National Grid/Fuel or Rental. Funds may only be awarded once per applicant per year for no more than two consecutive years.
FEMA National Grid: May be used to either restore service or to put a thirty-day hold on the account towards a disconnect notice. FEMA will only cover the amount of the current month’s service. (Previous or Past Due Balances will not be covered)
What is needed:
-Disconnect notice from National Grid and the most recent bill addressed to the applicant. (Payments will not be made on accounts in another individuals name.)
-A Denial Letter from Department of Social Services
-A form of picture identification.
FEMA Fuel: Will help purchase propane or kerosene for individuals in need. FEMA will cover the cost of a companies minimum fuel delivery.

-A form of picture identification
-The most recent bill addressed to the applicant. (Payments will not be made on accounts in another individuals name.)
FEMA Rent: May be used for a first month’s rent or to put a thirty-day hold on an eviction notice. Under no circumstances can FEMA be used for a Security Deposit.

-A Denial Letter from Department of Social Services
-A form of picture identification
-Agreement form signed by the landlord, showing acknowledgement of the policies of FEMA
Emergency Assistance funds through Catholic Charities may be used towards National Grid/Fuel or Rental. Catholic Charities awards will not exceed $250.00 per applicant per year. All emergency assistance cases for Catholic Charities funds are done through the Fulton County office.

The American Red Cross of the Onondaga-Oswego Chapter awards Care & Share funds to Catholic Charities four times a year when available. Funds may be available during the months of October, January, February, and March. Care & Share will cover a maximum grant of $200.00 per case for energy relief, a maximum grant of $500.00 per case for the repair or replacement of heating equipment.
The applicant must be a National Grid customer and must reside in the household to which the bill is addressed. The applicant or member of household must be either 60 years or older, disabled or handicapped, or have some type of medical emergency. A National Grid shut-off notice is also required.
What is needed:
-A Denial Letter from the Department of Social Services
-Proof of SSI/SSD and age
-A copy of National Grid shut-off notice addressed to the applicant. (Payments will not be made on accounts in another individuals name.).
